  • Andrew Busch, Ph.D., LP

    PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR

    Andrew Busch is the Director of the Behavioral Health Equity Research Group. He holds a PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He completed his clinical internship and post-doctoral fellowship at Brown University. Dr. Busch is a Senior Psychologist in the Hennepin Healthcare Department of Medicine, Division of Behavioral Medicine & Pharmacology and leads the Hennepin Healthcare Tobacco Dependence Clinic. He is also a Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School. Dr. Busch’s current work includes 1) efforts to understanding physical health disparities among those with mental illness, 2) developing interventions that target improvement in both mental and physical health, and 3) developing counseling interventions to improve physical health among our most underserved communities (e.g., individuals who are homeless, incarcerated, or recent immigrants). Dr. Busch is an expert in Behavioral Activation-based counseling and applies this treatment in many of his ongoing studies.

  • Hana-May Eadeh, Ph.D., LP

    INVESTIGATOR

    Hana-May Eadeh is an investigator in the Behavioral Health Equity Research Group. They earned their PhD from the University of Iowa and completed a one-year Child and Adolescent clinical internship at Hennepin Healthcare. Dr. Eadeh was then a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow and Leadership in Education Adolescent Health Fellow at the University of Minnesota. These programs allowed for advanced training in adolescent health equity, leadership, advocacy, and continued clinical training with children, adolescents, and their families.

    Dr. Eadeh’s research, grounded in intersectionality and ecological systems theories, aims to identify and implement strategies across levels of the ecological model to support and empower youth holding multiple marginalized social positions (e.g., LGBTQ+ youth of color). This work includes improved research methods, psychosocial interventions, advocacy efforts, and more to ultimately provide these youth with equal opportunities to thrive. As a licensed psychologist, Dr. Eadeh has expertise in gender-affirming mental health care, serving as the mental health director of the Pediatric Gender and Sexual Health Clinic at Hennepin Healthcare. They also serve as part of the pediatric consultation-liaison team, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Service, and as a supervisor within the psychology training program, including being the associate training director of Hennepin’s psychology internship and fellowship.

    As a queer Palestinian American, Dr. Eadeh brings personal insight and lived experience to their professional expertise, reinforcing their commitment to multicultural humility, equity, and inclusion both personally and professionally. They are dedicated to ongoing growth, learning, and self-reflection.
